Floodgates of Heaven Devotions: Coming Into Full Kingdom Authority...

Today’s Reading: 2 Sam. 3-5, Luke 14:25-35

Today’s Reflection: 2 Sam. 3:9b-10a …as the LORD hath sworn to David, even so I do to him; To translate the kingdom from the house of Saul, and to set up the throne of David over Israel…

God raised up a man by the name of Abner to begin the process of finalizing the transfer of power over from the house of Saul to the house of David. Although up to this point Abner was in allegiance with Saul’s house, they dishonored him, which turned his heart to do what he did for David.

In the end, Abner was slain and did not get to live to see the day whereby the transfer of power was completed, but still the point is to be made that his influence was successfully instrumental in achieving his objectives.

This shows us that, just as God raised up Abner for a brief moment in time, and for a specific purpose needed, so He can do on our behalf today as we serve Him! You may feel powerless, as if there is nothing you can do more than you’ve already done, or are already doing, for Christ, and yet you know you are called to do more.

You see not how, but God has an Abner! There are doors yet shut before you that only a God-sent Abner can open, and he will when the time appointed has come. You just continue to be faithful to your post, as the donkey was tied in the New Testament until our Lord sent his disciples to fetch him, telling them that asked, “Because the Lord hath need of him.”

One day, The Lord will be ready to raise up His instruments designed to “translate” the kingdom into your hands, so to speak. The word translate means to transition, or to transfer, or to convey from one to another. What did Jesus say in Luke 12:32? “Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”

Today, after having already given us the Treasure of His Kingdom (His Son, see Romans 8:32), as well as the keys to His Kingdom (see Matt. 16:19), God now wants to complete the transfer by giving us the remainder of the Kingdom itself, with all the authority required to manage it according to His rule. BUT, although there is a great door open, there are also many adversaries which do not want you living in full Kingdom authority (see 1 Cor. 16:9).

This means that you are going to have to participate with God in the process of this transition by exercising your faith, as well as your faithfulness, to His causes until at last He entrusts unto you ALL of what you will need to complete ALL Kingdom assignments He raised you up to accomplish in your lifetime for the expansion of the name of Jesus and His Kingdom throughout the earth. And don’t be surprised if, from out of unlikely places, God raises up an Abner!
