Creating Space for God ~ Read more...

Day 17 (Category: God’s Leading)

Today’s Reading: Gen. 41-42, Matt. 12:1-23

Today’s Reflection: Gen. 41:54 And the seven years of dearth began to come, according as Joseph had said: and the dearth was in all lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread.

The spoken word can be your most valuable asset! Words move the hearts of people from the prison all the way to the palace. So it was with Joseph. God always had Joseph strategically placed in the right place at the right time, so that when God needed him to speak up, he could do so. For example, God needed for Joseph to be repositioned from his family and homeland into Egypt for the purpose of saving His chosen people from the famine that was to come. So, what did God do? He gave Joseph a glimpse of his future through a dream, which, when he mentioned or spoke of around his brethren, their jealousy eventually drove them to sell him into slavery. As you may already know, this was the beginning of Joseph’s journey all the way to the palace in Egypt where God needed for him to be, all because of his words! Joseph’s words were the very tools that God used to catapult him into his destiny. So when we speak, expressions of the mind and impressions of the heart begin to respond and shape our future accordingly. In our text, it is interesting how it says, “…and the seven years of dearth began to come, according as Joseph had said…” Once again, God showed Joseph the future, Joseph spoke of it, and then it happened. Do you see a pattern yet? I could mention several instances not only in Joseph’s life, but all throughout the Bible, but the point I want to make is this; God never does what He has not already thought of and declared. As a matter of fact, He often speaks over us things that we have not even been informed of yet. So, it is always His method to set things in motion with His words. Often is the case that when God does a new thing in the earth, He chooses a mouth piece through which to declare a thing. He does this to create an atmosphere of faith through which He can perform what it is that He has declared. Remember that the author of Hebrews teaches us that without faith, it is impossible to please him; this means that He gives us hope through His word, which builds up faith, which creates His space in which to work. What is God talking to you about? Believe it, declare it, and then walk it out as it comes to pass!
